A Great USB to Serial ConverterLike many others here, I wasted days on generic brands that did not work before I finally came upon this cable that did the trick wonderfully! I needed to hook up a weighing scale to a computer that did not have a serial port.
So, I was a bit apprehensive because I wasn't sure if connecting a female serial cable to this - and then plugging the assembly would work well via USB. But it did on the first shot. I was able to talk to the scale on COM 7.Posted on

Got My Work Done...I bought this after reading user reviews here. I had several no-name adapters lying around but I didn't want to take chance to upgrade firmware of solar charger. If something goes wrong in the middle of firmware update, it would kill my very expensive charge controller.
From the product box I could tell this was solid item. The box has a small plastic handle on the top to hook it on store shelves and this has nothing to do with the product in itself but finer detail like this makes all the difference when you perceive quality.
As instructed, installed driver from supplied CD in my Windows 8.1 laptop. Plugged USB end of connector to laptop, it got recognized and listed in device manager as Cadyce adapter - another finer touch. No-name adapters are usually hit or miss with drivers. Unfortunately solar controller had female receiver with plug secure screw holders which shouldn't have been there by standard and was not allowing male and female to mate. So I had to tooth extract those from both sides of Cadyce male plug connector. I was able to upload firmware on charge controller without a hitch.
This USB to Serial adapter has been one of the very few device that worked out of the box without driver issues.Posted on
